Artist Profile
Sandra Tan is a photographer based in Boston, Massachusetts whose work focuses on landscapes, architecture, and quiet moments that often pass unnoticed in everyday environments. Through careful observation and patient exploration of place, Tan’s photography invites viewers to slow down and reconsider the subtle relationships between the natural world and human-made structures.
Tan’s practice centers on documenting locations where environmental systems intersect with infrastructure. Her images frequently explore spaces where nature gradually reclaims areas altered by human development, revealing how landscapes continue to evolve long after their original purpose has faded. By focusing on overlooked scenes and understated compositions, Tan draws attention to the quiet resilience of natural systems.
Currently studying photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Tan continues to investigate themes of environmental repair, landscape architecture, and ecological balance. Her work examines both the damage created by human intervention and the possibilities for coexistence through thoughtful design solutions such as wildlife crossings and urban ecological planning.
Tan’s photography has been exhibited in group exhibitions including the Muse exhibition at Tower One and West End Gallery. Her work will also appear in the upcoming Little Death exhibition in Portland, Maine. Through her evolving practice, she continues to explore how landscapes reveal the complex dialogue between human construction and natural persistence.
