Arom Ju is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Korea, now based in the U.S. Her work explores escapism and the emotional tension between stability and release, reimagining everyday environments as portals where the familiar begins to shift into the surreal.
Beginning her career in digital illustration, Ju has long been fascinated by how ordinary spaces can transform into sites of fantasy. She translates the flat, graphic clarity of digital imagery into painting, exploring how precision can transform into emotion and subtle tension. Ju bridges the languages of digital and physical media, creating works that hover between screen and surface. Through geometric repetition, spatial distortion, and vivid color, her compositions balance structure and play, restraint and imagination.
Recently, she has expanded her practice beyond the flat plane, integrating mobile-like moving elements to explore motion, fragility, and transformation. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Korea, including Greater Bay Area: Breaking Through at the New Museum Los Gatos and Moments of Living in Haste at A Space Gallery in Brooklyn, and has been featured by institutions such as Microsoft and The New York Times.

Description
Colorful Leaks captures the delicate shift when the ordinary begins to unfold into something dreamlike. Ju draws inspiration from the tension between stability and the desire to escape — a quiet emotional pull that shapes everyday experience.
Using fluid acrylic paint and airbrush techniques, Ju achieves a surface reminiscent of digital gradients, transforming a familiar domestic scene into an uncanny yet inviting space. The interplay of vivid color and geometric structure mirrors her ongoing interest in how comfort and restlessness coexist, inviting the viewer to pause, imagine, and drift.
