Artist Profile: Katherine Keeble

Katherine Keeble is a painter and sculptor whose work explores love, loss, and transformation through recurring motifs such as the anatomical heart and butterfly. Originally a painter, she expanded into bronze and metal sculpture, integrating forging and welding techniques to create tactile and emotionally resonant forms.

Katherine is currently pursuing an MA in Art History and Criticism at Stony Brook University and holds a BA in the same field, as well as an Art Business Certificate from Christie’s Education in New York. Her work has been featured in the UREKA exhibition at the Zuccaire Gallery, where she received the Presidential Award, and in the Harvest of Artists exhibition at the B.J. Spoke Gallery, and is held in private collections.

Katherine’s practice examines the heart as both a physical and emotional center and the butterfly as a symbol of transformation. Through bronze casting and metalwork, she creates forms that hold both strength and fragility, mirroring the complexities of human emotion.

Description
These three bronze sculptures translate emotions that have shaped the artist’s life — love, loss, joy, protection, and pain — into tangible form. Each heart is a vessel for lived experience, giving shape to the invisible resonance of emotional memory.

Created through the lost-wax casting method, the works begin as clay models, then are cast in bronze, refined, and patinated. The surfaces hold both polish and imperfection, embodying the tension between strength and vulnerability. The hearts reflect transformation, resilience, and the beauty found in emotional complexity.
