Artist Profile: Magdalena Kluth

Magdalena Kluth is a contemporary abstract painter based in Mexico City. Her practice centers on transformation — emotional, material, and energetic — through layered, mixed-media compositions that invite the viewer into a state of resonance and reflection. Working with marble powder, swamp lime, pigment, and ink, Kluth constructs textural surfaces that blur boundaries between the visible and the felt.

Deeply influenced by the idea that water holds memory and responds to consciousness, she approaches painting as a vessel for presence, intuition, and remembrance. Kluth studied Fashion and Communication at the Academy of Fashion and Design in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Her work has been exhibited at Revuelta Gallery, Radio28, KOIK Contemporary in Mexico City, Arthouse MX, Speedy Gallery in Los Angeles, and other international venues. Her paintings have appeared in Vogue México, Excélsior, and Visual Art Journal, and are held in private collections across Europe, North America, and Latin America.

Description
Stories of Us was inspired by the invisible threads that hold us together. The works explore how our inner architecture shapes the way we love, communicate, and coexist. They reflect the balance between harmony and chaos, between self and other, and the ongoing process of letting go of ego to create space for genuine connection.

Created with ink, natural pigments, tempera, marble powder, peat lye, swamp lime, hematite sand, and water, alongside poppyseed, walnut, and linseed oils, each painting emerges through patient, layered processes. The materials absorb and respond to one another, becoming a metaphor for human relationships. Each layer records a moment of presence, merging into a textured surface that holds both tension and softness.
