Artist Profile
Marc Mauro is a New York–based artist, photographer, and filmmaker whose work bridges precision and wonder. A self-taught visualist, Mauro transforms his background in commercial photography into an exploration of the natural world’s hidden energies. His art reflects a fascination with light, movement, and color as living materials, translating cosmic and oceanic phenomena into meditative compositions.
Working between the lens and the digital canvas, Mauro builds visual experiences that merge the technical discipline of photography with the intuition of painting. His subjects—often corals, water, or light itself—become portraits of vitality and impermanence. Each image captures a fleeting moment when the natural and the abstract converge, revealing a world at once fragile and infinite.
An advocate for sustainability and ethical storytelling, Mauro’s practice extends beyond image-making into cultural curation and community engagement. Through his media projects and podcast, he fosters dialogue between artists and audiences, using technology and narrative to explore the shared pulse of creativity. His art invites viewers to experience color and motion not as spectacle but as consciousness in flux.

Description
Volcanic Splash anchors Mauro’s Reef Prints series, which reimagines underwater ecosystems as living constellations of light. The piece captures a rare coral brain photographed under a custom LED spectrum that enhances its bioluminescent glow. Crimson, azure, and molten gold converge in an image that feels simultaneously geological and celestial.
Shot using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a macro lens and multi-rig lighting, the work fuses scientific precision with poetic sensibility. The coral appears to erupt and solidify in a single breath, its rippling forms echoing volcanic motion beneath the sea. In this tension between eruption and stillness, Mauro finds the essence of natural creation—beauty born of pressure, time, and transformation.
