Bio:
David Buetsche, a mixed-media artist born and raised on the west side of Cincinnati, has dedicated his life to the arts, both as a creator and educator. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from The Ohio State University, he returned to his roots in Cincinnati to teach visual art, CAD, photography, and film at Elder High School, his alma mater, for 18 years. Now serving as the Art Director for the Salyers Group, David oversees visual projects across various properties, while continuing his journey as an artist. His work, informed by a fascination with found objects and mixed media, challenges traditional artistic boundaries, transforming everyday materials into striking pieces.

In his art, David explores themes of memory, identity, and the passage of time. His practice is rooted in layering diverse materials to create visually rich, tactile works that engage viewers on multiple sensory levels. By merging elements of painting, collage, and sculpture, David’s art invites viewers to question the world around them, evoking wonder and curiosity. Through this experimental approach, David continues to push the boundaries of mixed-media art, striving to create lasting impact and resonance in each piece.

Dimensions: 30 inches x 30 inches x 1.5 inches

Description:
The Bison’s Gaze is an evocative portrait that captures the awe-inspiring presence of a bison, inspired by David Buetsche’s encounter with the animal in Steamboat Springs, CO. After completing a commissioned piece involving a bison in faux fur, David traveled to Colorado and saw bison up close for the first time, an experience that left a profound impact on him. Using acrylic, spray paint, and gel medium on a wood panel, David recreates the intensity of the bison’s gaze, bringing an expressionistic touch to his depiction. The textured layers and bold strokes mirror the ruggedness of the bison, inviting viewers to connect with the raw beauty and power of this majestic creature.
